My Oath of Service to California’s 26th Congressional District
I swear this oath freely,
not for power, not for pride,
but for the people of California’s 26th Congressional District.
I pledge my service to the young and the old,
to the worker and the unemployed,
to the housed and the unhoused,
to those with voice and those long ignored.
I will defend the dignity of every person,
regardless of race, faith, gender, disability, income, or immigration status.
I will protect the vulnerable, stand with the working class,
and speak truth even when it is costly.
I vow to place duty above ambition,
justice above convenience,
and the public good above party, donors, or self-interest.
I will not turn away from suffering,
nor look aside from injustice.
When the powerful exploit the powerless,
I will oppose them.
When systems fail the people,
I will work to change them.
I swear to listen before I lead,
to serve before I rule,
and to remember always that this office is not a crown,
but a responsibility.
My loyalty is not to a throne,
not to an ideology,
but to the people who call this district home
and the Constitution that binds us together.
So long as I hold this trust,
I will serve with courage, humility, and honor.
This is my oath.
This is my duty.
And I will keep it.
